Answering the Call of Beauty

The situation

A newcomer in the hair accessories space, Giga Imports faced big competition in decades-old, established brands like Conair, Revlon, and Scrunci. They needed a head-turning brand identity and a bold message that would get consumers’ attention—and help them earn coveted shelf space in big box retailers.

The creative solution

Seeking contrast with these older brands, we sought a youthful, bold, fresh identity for Giga’s new hair accessory. Inspired by Brooklyn, home to some of the hottest up-and-coming neighborhoods in New York City (and in the world), we sought to create a brand with the same hip, trendy feel—one that says “Brooklyn,” without saying “Brooklyn.” Hence, “718” was born.
